Celtic Caviar

A big trend in nail art right now is bright colors and something called "nail caviar". Essentially nail caviar is basically small micro beads placed on your nails over nail polish. What seems to be the most popular and well known nail caviar is Ciate Ciate Caviar Manicure. I wanted to purchase the product so I could try it out, but the price threw me off.
$25 dollars for a set. Although the set does come with a Pot Nail Polish, The Caviar Pearls, a funnel and a tray, it did not seem worth my money.
I sucked it up and saved my money.
But on a trip to my local sally's I found a little pot of microbeads for only $3.79!! I grabbed them, as well as a bright yellow polish and got to work!!

What you will need:
Base Coat
Nail Polish of your choice,
I chose Celtic Sun by China Glaze.
Silver Micro Beads
Top Coat

How To Place Micro Beads
Paint all of your nails with the nail polish you have chosen.
You can either let your polish dry and use a top coat to adhere the beads which is what I did,
or do it right on top of your wet polish.
Place Micro Beads on a flat surface, or a small plate and place your wet finger nail on the beads, making sure they cover your entire nail, or the section you wish to cover.
Let the polish dry and let the beads set.
Cover all of your nails with a strong top coat and voila your done!!

You can do all of your nails if you wish or just do one accent nail.

*Microbeads, no matter which ones you use, have a tendency to fall off at random times, so be prepared to lose some here and there*

Starry Night Nail Art

I've always been a big fan of Vincent Van Gogh especially his Starry Night painting. His art work changed the way people see art, every stroke of his brush different from the other. Van Gogh created a new form of art, using new techniques to create his masterpieces. So when I cam across this tutorial by Cutepolish on youtube I knew that I had to give it a try.
I know it sounds and looks incredibly difficult to redo Van Gogh's famous painting but it is easy as long as you go slow and give it time.

To achieve this look you really only need a few colors.
Dark Blue -Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Nail Color in Co-Bolt Blue
Light Blue- Orly Nail Varnish in Snowcone
White- Kiss Nail Art Paint in White
Yellow- Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Nail Color in Lightning
Black- Kiss Nail Art Paint in Black

Also, you can do this on all your nails or use it as an accent nail like I did. I covered the rest of my fingers in Essie's Licorice.

I hope you enjoyed this look, and if you enjoyed it please go and take a look at Cutepolish's tutorial. I promise it's not hard. ;)

Pastel Water-Colored Nails Tutorial

A couple of days ago I ran into this article on Beautylish and got really inspired to try water-colored nails. But was really put off by how complicated it looked. But luckily I ran into this detailed tutorial by the lovely Rebecca explaining step by step how to achieve these lovely nails. I'm happy with how they came out but no so sure whether I love them quite yet.

It's not a hard look to achieve you just need a some good colors.  I achieved this look by using only four different colors counting the base coat you need to make the colors pop.
Here, I'll give you a mini tutorial on how you achieve the look.

NOT PICTURED: A small fluffy paint brush *not a nail art brush a paint brush* this is needed to blend out the colors perfectly*
And acetone *needed to blend the colors*

  • First apply your favorite base coat, then apply one or two coats of a white nail polish making sure its opaque.
  • Then a layer or a good thick top coat, this is important to do so that the acetone does not destroy your white base while you're blending your colors.
  • Then, after letting the first layer dry completely, apply three small dots of your first color, I chose Pink Friday from OPI, and quickly dip your paint brush into the acetone making sure that the brush isn't soaked but a bit wet begin blending your color covering your entire nail.
  • Repeat this step with the rest of your chosen colors, I used two more, Stripe Rite in yellow and Essie's Coat Azure. Make sure the colors over lap each other but do not completely cover each other.
  • After you've blended the colors to your liking add your top coat and voila you've got water-colored nails.

I allowed some of the white base to show through my nails, but that's up to preference.
Also some quick tips;
Work fast or else the polish will dry in chunks.
Do not drench the brush with acetone or else it won't work like you want it to, but if you accidentally use too much acetone just blow on it and it will dry.
Don't try to be a perfectionist, like I was, or else you'll mess up your nail and will have to start over, like I did.

I hope you guys enjoyed this look and please let me know of any looks you would like to see me do.

Essie's Play Date Swatch and Review

Hello Dolls. So I recently went on a search for a nail polish in my favorite color, LAVENDER. There where surprisingly a lot of options but I stuck to a brand I knew and had had a lot of luck with when it cam to pastel colors. Essie. I picked up Play Date from my local CVS for about $8.

Overall, I love, love this color. Unlike a lot of pastel nail polishes only two coats where necessary before it became opaque. And it's such a bright lavender and it shines amazingly with a top coat. I think I found my go to color for spring.

Black Tar

I got bored tonight and decided to play around with some make-up. My result was this, half of my face covered in black make-up (black gel liner, and black eyeshadow to set it). It reminds me of tar.

Kate Moss for Rimmel London Limited Edition Long Lasting Finish Lipstick #4 Swatch

Hello lovelies!Today I took a little trip to Target to purchase some Tea Tree Oil, and like always I took a little pit stop to the make up department. I rarely look at Rimmel products, but today I decided to take a peek to see if I could find anything nice. And I bumped into Kate Moss' Rimmel London Long Lasting Finish Lipstick collection. I had heard a lot about this collection, but never paid much attention to the hype. The colors didn't really attract my attention, except for one entitled number #4.
It's a deep plum almost true purple. I can't believe I found a color like this at the drug store. The only places I ever see a deep purple like this is a high end counters. But, I'll stop talking and let you take a look!

First of all let's take a look at this super slick packaging. I excepted such chic-ness from someone like Kate. I love the slick black almost leather-black packaging.

And this is the lipstick. My camera gave no justice to the color. Here it looks more lilac than it does in person but hopefully you can get more from the swatches.

swatch time!

And here we go. LOOK AT THAT! Look at how dark it looks on me. I'm not pale, I'm quite an olive/golden skin tone and it looks dark on me! I LOVE IT!!

Overall, I love the lipstick. It's dark, it has amazing pigmentation, and it's hydrating. I hope I can find another one before they do sell out considering that these lipsticks are limited edition. I think if all Rimmel Lipsticks have this kind of amazing payoff, I'll definitely be looking into these so much more now.
